Jesus is The Messiah

J

esus the Messiah, the Ultimate Christ, The Redeemer, The Mighty God, The Promised King, The Anointed King, King Jesus, King Yeshua, glory to God! Jesus remains a total mystery to many because they simply refuse to accept him as The Messiah yet it simply requires an honest evaluation.

Those who deny Jesus Christ, The Messiah, Apostle Paul says: “But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away (2 Corinthians 3:14).

“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4-6).

Jesus / Christ / Messiah Names

  • Yeshua in Hebrew: יֵשׁוּעַ, Romanised: Yēšūaʿ meaning Yahweh is salvation
  • Christ in Greek (Khristós (Χριστός) means The Anointed One
  • Hebrew word mashiach (המשיח, messiah), means Anointed

Christ is not Jesus’ last name. However, Jesus’ name came from heaven: “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9–10).

The Messiah / Son of God

Old Testament
  • For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
  • “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations (Isaiah 42:1).
  • According to the scroll of Isaiah (Isaiah 61:1–11; Matthew 13:53–58; Mark 6:1–6)

New Testament
  • Jesus’ genealogy points that He is the messiah: "and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah" (Matthew 1:1-17).
  • Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah (Acts 9:22).
  • Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16).

Jesus’ Own Claim
  • According to the scroll of Isaiah (Matthew 13:53–58; Mark 6:1–6)
  • The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.” (John 4:25-25).
  • “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).
  • No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. John 3:13).
  • “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.  I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

The Messiah’s Mystery

The mystery of the kingdom of God has been granted to you. But to those outside everything comes in parables.

“No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory (1 Corinthians 2:7-8). Jesus made it clear:

  • No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again (John 10:18).
  • And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8).

Whoever Denies Warning

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also (1 John 2:22)

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

Key Takeaways:

Understand, Overstand and Innerstand

The mystery which is not understood even up to now is: God was manifest in the flesh of Jesus Christ. Listen:

  • And beyond controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory (1 Timothy 3:16).
  • If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God (1 John 4).
  • Whoever has ears, let them hear (Matthew 11:15).
