Armor of God, Part 6: The Belt of Truth

W

e have reached the last and final spiritual Armor of God, glory to God! The belt as we know it, holds things together, that’s the main function of the belt. Let’s dig in deeper and learn more about this piece of armor and why it matters especially when it comes to spiritual warfare.

What is the Truth

Lets see the connection of the belt and the truth. Remember the belt holds everything together.

  • Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.
  • For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ John 1:17.
  • Jesus Christ is the Truth and He holds everything together, watch this:
“"And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.’” (Colossians 1:17).

The Belt is a Gift?

Now that we know What or Who the The Truth is, we have to find out again if the Trust is a gift to us from God, let’s find out:

  • He chose to give us birth through the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created. James 1:18
  • And in Him, having heard and believed the word of truth--the gospel of your salvation--you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13

The Belt in Action

The best person who showed us how to defend ourselves from the enemy using the truth is Jesus Himself. Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the desert but he did not succeed. Satan misuses scripture but Jesus is already aware of it. This is what Jesus had to say:

“It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” (Matthew 4:1-11).

Defense using the Belt

Jesus rebuked enemies and other evil people who deny the truth:

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

Here’s how we can resist the devil with Jesus:

  • However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come (John 16:13).
  • Jesus Himself told us that, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”( John 8:31-32).

Isn’t that amazing? The truth (Jesus Christ) will set you free. As simple as that y’all.

Key Takeaways:

Understand, Overstand and Innerstand

Be strong in your faith, stand your ground in Christ. Jesus is key to the whole Armor of God. With Christ, you are already victorious in any spiritual battle you may face.

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15).

Jesus Himself told us that, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32).

I hope you enjoyed this series, I pray you remain blessed, encouraged, and protected by God’s Word.
