Armor of God, Part 3: Feet of the Gospel of Peace

S

o far in Part 1 and 2, we established that The Shield of Faith and Breastplate of Righteousness are actually spiritual gifts from God. Furthermore, we proved that these gifts are only granted to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have exciting things to cover so let’s get right to the feet and see any connections.

Understand, Overstand and Innerstand:

Once again, so many preachers have taught about the Armor of God but have missed something special which we will reveal here because “these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10).

Gospel of Peace?

First, the word gospel means Good News. The biblical meaning is: a gift from God. It is good news about our redemption with God, about our salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is The Prince of Peace:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Jesus preached the good news throughout his ministry. Jesus himself is a gift to us (John 3:16) who in turn gifted us with His gospel.

Jesus gave us peace:    “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).

And again:   “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life” (Matthew 6:25-34).

Feet Standing Firm with the Gospel of Peace

Standing firm on our feet means standing your ground, having a firm foundation, deep rooted in the Word of God. Paul emphasized why this is important:

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming (Ephesians 4:14).

Paul was talking about standing firm, and having “faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).

Now let’s see where the two lead us. The Gospel of Peace is the Gospel of Christ, a gift to us just like the other two pieces of armor (shield and breastplate) we have already discussed.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Key Takeaways:

Understand, Overstand and Innerstand

Finally, The Armor of God is spiritual. I encourage you to “Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today” (Exodus 14:13). Stand firm with Jesus.

God is ready to grant you these gifts so “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7).

If you are ready for battle you should check your armor, are you standing firm with your feet deeply rooted in the gospel of Peace? Do you have Jesus Christ in your life? Remember, without Jesus we cannot be saved or protected, we cannot be righteous before God. Glory to God!
